Location Canggu Bali
Things to do in Canggu, Bali
The Neighbourhood
Canggu has a relaxed surfing vibe but is also only 30 minutes away from the bustling heart of Bali – Seminyak & Kuta. It has cool, laid back cafés, restaurants, shops and two or three bars. It’s the perfect place to relax but also to be close to the action.
Getting Around
The best way to get around Canggu – and Bali in general – is by motorbike. You can rent a motorbike for as little as €3 a day or US$3.5 a day. Car rental is also cheap, at only €15/20 a day or US$17/23 a day. If you don’t want to rent your own bike or car, you can simply rent a car with a driver for around €40 a day or US$45 a day.
Food & Drinks
For lunch and dinner, there are plenty of choices. You can either check out the local warungs (taverns) in Jalan Batu Bolong (Canggu’s main street), such as handily positioned surfer’s favourite Bumi, or try the warungs on Batu Bolong beach (Canggu’s main beach), all of which serve great local buffet style food at an average cost of €2 or US$2.5.
If you fancy something more international, there is also plenty of choice – we like Betelnut Café, which serves organic, local and international food. Another idea is to try the delicious fresh fish BBQ at Batu Bolong or Echo Beach – literally next to the waves. The price of an international meal or BBQ is around €3-5 or US$3.5-5.5.
A sunset Bintang (Bali’s local beer) or coconut by the beach is a must. And if you want a bit of night life, there is always Deus, which has live music every Sunday, the after party at Echo Beach Sand Bar, also on Sundays, or Old Man’s Friday live music night.
If you want more action, the shopping and restaurant paradise of Seminyak and Kuta’s crazy night life are only a short ride away by bike or car.
