People Say!
It’s becoming a tradition! Visiting Bali and booking lessons with these guys! Seeing progress on my surfing skills was my aim to this trip and guess what! I did it! Thank to surfs up bali! Good vibes, professional advice and analysis of what you are doing wrong or good and all the confidence you need in the water can be achieved if you book a lesson with surfs up bali!
Ps thank you for all these amazing photos and this huge smile I still have in my face.
Got to know from Google about them. One of the few good websites in English that clearly mentions what they do. Key USP: They do only semi - private sessions ( 2 people max at a time). The session was good especially with Ilham's thoughtful feedback after missing or falling down from every wave. Ilham keeps motivating you until you stand up on your feet. Great experience, must try! The logistics - pick up and drop was well managed. A pleasant surprise was that they took photos without us mentioning about it at the start.
Arun PalThis is one of the best surf schools in the Canggu area. We had the pleasure of having Ridho as our surf instructor and he was really good at putting us in the right spot for every wave and also a great teacher.
Lars JohanWe were two people and had two amazing teachers! Neither of us had surfed before so we started from the beginning. We went to the water pretty quickly after going through the basics but of course you only start learning when you get in the ocean. The teachers were friendly and wanted to help us get the most of the class. Would highly recommend!
A couple of backpackersThe guys at Surfs up Bali were awesome! Good fun and great teachers. the two of us had an instructor each which was great value for money. After almost 2 hours we were both able to stand up!
Lucy R.I took several lessons in August with Surf Is Up Bali and each and every time, the lesson left me with a permanent smile for the rest of the day. The surf instructor was with me at all times which helped me catch many waves but also made me feel super safe. He gave me constant feedback so I could understand what I was doing wrong and focus on improving my mistakes.

Things to do in Canggu, Bali
The Neighbourhood
Canggu has a relaxed surfing vibe but is also only 30 minutes away from the bustling heart of Bali – Seminyak & Kuta. It has cool, laid back cafés, restaurants, shops and two or three bars. It’s the perfect place to relax but also to be close to the action.
Getting Around
The best way to get around Canggu – and Bali in general – is by motorbike. You can rent a motorbike for as little as €3 a day or US$3.5 a day. Car rental is also cheap, at only €15/20 a day or US$17/23 a day. If you don’t want to rent your own bike or car, you can simply rent a car with a driver for around €40 a day or US$45 a day.
Food & Drinks
For lunch and dinner, there are plenty of choices. You can either check out the local warungs (taverns) in Jalan Batu Bolong (Canggu’s main street), such as handily positioned surfer’s favourite Bumi, or try the warungs on Batu Bolong beach (Canggu’s main beach), all of which serve great local buffet style food at an average cost of €2 or US$2.5.
If you fancy something more international, there is also plenty of choice – we like Betelnut Café, which serves organic, local and international food. Another idea is to try the delicious fresh fish BBQ at Batu Bolong or Echo Beach – literally next to the waves. The price of an international meal or BBQ is around €3-5 or US$3.5-5.5.
A sunset Bintang (Bali’s local beer) or coconut by the beach is a must. And if you want a bit of night life, there is always Deus, which has live music every Sunday, the after party at Echo Beach Sand Bar, also on Sundays, or Old Man’s Friday live music night.
If you want more action, the shopping and restaurant paradise of Seminyak and Kuta’s crazy night life are only a short ride away by bike or car.
